# Card Aging

Visually highlight stale work by gradually fading inactive Stories over time.

**Card Aging** visually highlights stale work by gradually fading inactive Stories over time. The longer a Story goes without activity, the more faded it appears on the board, making it easy to spot work that may need attention or a nudge toward completion.

## Customizing Aging Behavior

You can customize how Stories age in one of two ways:

* **Default gradual fade**: Stories fade in stages at 1, 2, and 4 weeks of inactivity
* **Custom fade**: Set a custom number of days for Stories to become fully faded

## Configuring Card Aging for Your Workspace

To enable and configure Card Aging across your entire Workspace:

1. Navigate to **Settings > General Settings > Card Aging**
2. Choose the default gradual fade (1, 2, and 4 weeks of inactivity) or set a custom number of days for Stories to become fully faded
3. Save your changes

## Configuring Card Aging for a Team

Card Aging can also be configured for individual Teams:

1. Navigate to **Settings > Teams**
2. Select your Team
3. Select **Card Aging** and configure the aging behavior for that Team

Card Aging pairs well with [WIP Limits](/help/fields-and-features/wip-limits): WIP Limits cap how much work a team takes on, while Card Aging surfaces the work that has stalled.
