Organization

Overview

The Organizations and Workspaces Dashboard provides an overview of all of the Shortcut Organizations associated with your user account. Under each Organization, you’ll see its Workspaces.

You can access this page by selecting the logo or icon in the top left corner, and then selecting View All.

Dashboard Information

You’ll find information about each Workspace, including:

  • Its status (active or disabled)
  • If it is your default Workspace (or can be set as default)
  • Its Shortcut URL
  • Your role
  • Your primary email address for that Workspace
  • When it was created

You can go to any Workspace from this page by clicking the View Workspace button.

To change the order of Organizations or Workspaces, click and hold the crossed arrow icon in the upper right corner, then drag and drop into a new position.

Admin Capabilities

If you are an Owner or Admin of the Organization, you can:

  • Manage user membership and roles
  • Disable Workspaces
  • See the number of billable users and invitations
  • Other administrative tasks

Click Manage Organization and Workspace to access these features.

Notes on Owner & Admin Roles

  • Owner: If you promote a user to Owner in an Organization with more than one Workspace, the user will be promoted as Owner to All Workspaces in the Organization (even if they were not previously invited to these Workspaces)
  • Admin: If you promote a user to an Admin of a single Workspace, they are only an Admin of that Workspace

Creating a New Organization

If you’d like to add a new, separate Organization:

  1. Click your company’s logo in the upper left corner
  2. Click View All Workspaces
  3. Click Add New Organization

You’ll be taken to a screen confirming that you’re creating a new Organization.

Renaming Your Organization

If you’re an Owner and you’d like to rename your Organization:

  1. Go to the Manage Organization and Workspaces Dashboard (click on your company’s logo, then click View All Workspaces)
  2. Select Manage Organization and Workspaces
  3. Click on the pencil icon next to the Organization name (found above the Filter Users field)
  4. Update the name and press ENTER

Renaming your Organization won’t change its URL slug. If you need to change your Organization’s URL and you’re an Owner, contact our support team. Support will confirm that the new URL is available and update it for you.

Disabling and Re-enabling Your Organization

If you’re an Owner and you’d like to disable an entire Organization and its Workspaces:

  1. Go to the Manage Organization and Workspaces Dashboard (click on your company’s logo, then click View All Workspaces)
  2. Select Manage Organization and Workspaces
  3. Click the red Disable Organization button in the upper right-hand corner
  4. You’ll see a confirmation screen stating: “Are you sure you want to disable this Organization? All Workspaces will also become disabled.” Confirm by pressing OK

A pop-up message will appear confirming that the Organization has been disabled, and you’ll see the information in the Dashboard turn black.

If you’re trying to create a new Workspace under an existing Organization, go back and select Add Workspace to Organization instead.

Once you’ve named your Organization and selected a URL for it, click Finish to create it. Shortcut will also simultaneously create a Workspace with the same name, and you’ll be taken there to take the product tour or start your work.
