Reports Overview

Use reports to evaluate both past performance and in-progress metrics.

What is Measured

Reports are located on the Reports page and on individual pages for Epics and Iterations. The difference in these reports is how Stories are counted:

  • Reports page → charts use completed Stories. “Completed” means Stories moved into the “Done” workflow category. This makes the Reports page useful for historical reporting and measuring past performance.
  • Epic and Iteration pages → use all Stories, making them useful for in-progress metrics.

Working Days

Some teams don’t work every day of the week, so counting and reporting on those off days is unnecessary. Shortcut has a Workspace-level setting that allows an Owner or Admin to set certain Working Days.

All calculations on the Burndown and ARC (Added/Remaining/Completed) Charts take Working Days into account for a more accurate representation of your work. The default Working Days are Monday through Friday, inclusive.

Filtered Reports

The use of filters is key to pulling the information you need. Filter ideas:

  • Date range → Save a set of reports with relative dates (last 30 days, 3 months, 2 quarters, etc.) and reports will always be up to date
  • Teams → Sort by Teams to quickly get data on how different squads are working
  • Epics → Sort by Epic quickly get data on how specific projects are coming along

You can also filter by Objective, Labels and Iterations.

Tip: If your team requires custom reporting outside of what Shortcut offers, you can utilize our google sheets integration or API to build your own reports.
