Overview
Rootly is an incident management platform that automates incident response and facilitates post-incident learning. The Shortcut integration ensures action items from incidents flow into your development workflow as trackable Stories.

Setting Up the Integration
- In Rootly, navigate to Settings > Integrations
- Find Shortcut in the project management section
- Click Connect and authorize with your Shortcut credentials
- Configure integration settings:
- Select your Shortcut workspace
- Choose default Team and Workflow
- Set up label mappings
You need admin permissions in both Rootly and Shortcut to set up this integration.
Using the Integration
Creating Action Items
During or after an incident:
- Add action items in Rootly’s incident view
- Select “Create Shortcut Story” for items that need development work
- Stories are created with incident context
Tracking Progress
- View action item status in both Rootly and Shortcut
- Updates in either platform sync automatically
- Complete Stories to mark action items as done
Post-Mortem Workflow
- Rootly facilitates the post-mortem process
- Action items identified during review become Stories
- Track implementation through Shortcut
- Close the loop by linking completed Stories back to the incident
